First, what is vaping? Vaping is the act of puffing on an electronic cigarette, or e cig. E cigs tend to come in two types: disposable and rechargeable e cigs. Disposables last for a certain period of time and can then be recycled. Rechargeable electronic cigarettes can be charged via wall plug or USB port in order to be used again and again; this type of e cig also requires refills of e liquid, which is used to produce vapor. Vapor cigarettes, however, are in a class of their own. Usually rechargeable, these devices tend to produce more vapor and are often customized by the user.
How do e cigs work? In order to understand vaping and e cigs, it’s necessary to know about the parts of electronic cigarettes and vapor cigarettes. Here are a few terms you may come across as you learn about vaping.
Vaping batteries:
Vaping batteries are responsible for powering the electronic cigarette, and they are typically operated when the user pushes a button. Vaping batteries have a lot to do with the power of the vapor cigarette. In more advanced vapor cigarettes, the batteries are used to produce more vapor. More traditional looking e cigs typically have smaller batteries, and although they may produce less vapor, these devices are far more compact to carry around.
Vapor cartridges and cartomizers:
Vapor cartridges are responsible for holding the e liquid, which creates the smoke-like vapor. Most cartridges today are combined with atomizers, which heat the liquid, in a part known as a cartomizer. Cartomizers can be refilled with liquid, and some hold more power to produce more vapor and a greater “throat hit” similar to smoking. In more customized vapor cigarettes, the cartomizer may be a “clearomizer,” which is see-through and makes the levels of e-liquid visible to the user.
Vaping Liquids:
Finally, one of the appeals of vaping over smoking is that e liquids come in all sorts of different flavors. The e liquid mixtures are made from a blend of propylene glycol, vegetable glycerin, and flavoring. These flavors come in all different varieties, such as coffee, fruit, and even chocolate.
