Come on, you know you want to. Everybody’s doing it, screen printing that is!
Screen printing is an excellent way to create killer custom designed tee shirts for your business, event, or just for the heck of it. While both screen printing and digital printing can both yield awesome custom print tees, the screen printing process is a little bit more involved.
Digital printing is much newer — and some say more advanced — process that involves using a computer to create and process artwork that is then printed directly on the surface of the product, whether it be a promo t shirts for an event or a custom designed hooded sweat shirt. Digital printing does not involved heat transfer, as the ink directly adheres to the fabric.
On the other hand, screen printing is a much more involved process that involves several different stencils or “screens” that are applied in layers. Each color requires a different stencil, therefore intricate designs that include several colors often take longer to complete. This method of printing also requires a high level of accuracy and skill.
Typically, t shirt printing services offer both forms of printing. Neither one is better than the other per se, however, each method carries its own strengths and weaknesses depending on the client’s — that’s you — desired result.
For designs that require a high level of vibrancy, especially on dark fabric or specialty products or merchandise, screen printing is typically the best option. On the other hand, digital printing is best for intricate designs that involve a high level of detail. This method also allows for crisp photographic prints to be made. The ink is also applied thinner, making it the best option for lighter colored shirts.
Both methods are excellent ways to bring your creative designs to life, however, not all designs are created equal. Be sure to start out simple, and gradually add more detail from there. Often time, it is the simplest designs that garner the most attention and recognition.
